The Wow Factor: Bruce Bomberger

I've always liked Bruce Bomberger's work well enough, but it took the western scene below to stop me in my tracks and say "wow!". Like his fellow 'West-Coasters', Stan Galli and Fred Ludekins, Bruce Bomberger often produced strong but somewhat subdued work.


Here he uses a compelling colour scheme that is decidedly atypical for a western scene. Coupled with his expert use of light and shade and a beautifully realized group of interesting character types, Bomberger delivers an exceptional piece that grabs the viewer and doesn't let go.
