It must be Autumn as we made our fourth annual trip to the farm with Little Buddy today. I have to say this is one of my favorite days of the year. It is just so much fun. We get there plenty early so this little one does not have to wait in many lines. The first thing we always do is ride a pony. Little Buddy looks so big on this little pony. He is growing don't you think?
Riding on Thomas the Train is always next. We got in three rides before there was a line. He road on each of the cars, first the caboose with Dad, then the green and yellow cars with Mom. It drives in a circle around the farm where you can see a camel, cow, giant tortoises, a zorse and donkeys, some turkeys, a giant pig named Elizabeth and even a few lemurs. Little Buddy is not one to notice the animals too much, he would rather look at the gates or the wheels on the train. I think it is hard for him to visually focus on something when we are moving by it, even if we aren't going that fast.
Look at those freckles, I could eat him up!
This first time Little Buddy came to the farm he was three and not quite ready for the cow train. Every time we came after that it was not working, well today it was. The wonderful man who drove the train told us to hop on the cow train and he would take us out after one more train trip. He was such a wonderful guy. Little Buddy was a bit nervous about the ride but he did just fine. He even picked up both hands and put them up in the air for a short bit.
He had his first taste of roasted marshmallow, not to sure he liked it.
There was a big playground where he had a short ride on a swing and played in this big wooden playhouse. Swings are hard because they are unstable and frankly unpredictable, but Little Buddy is much less fearful of them now that he is six!
There did not seem to be as many animals this year. I usually see a few alpacas, and more than three sheep, but there was this friendly donkey. Maybe it was because it is so hot out today, the animals were kept in cooler places. I think some on the animals have been moved onto new homes. This is a type of refuge where they rescue many animals and give them a safe place to live. The festival is over three weekends. They raise money during the festival to assist their program of children on the spectrum working with animals. It is a wonderful place with so many kind people helping out.
Little Buddy even got to pet a ferret. We had so much fun we just might go back next weekend.
