lessons.....

"Before I got married, I had six theories about raising children.
Now I have six children and no theories"

- John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester -

That's my theory of childraising in a nutshell.

Dave and I read alot, pray alot, ask friends alot and make lots and lots of mistakes.
Sometimes I can't help but wonder "Will they one day talk about this moment with a therapist?"

There are a few things that I have managed to work out and were apparent this week:

brotherly love is nurtured over shared interests

time spent reading books is never wasted

Making art = happiness

cooking with colour always makes them smile

curiosity, hunger and impatience are a bad combination.

the plate that will be finished the quickest will be the one that looks the most fun

a girl on a swing is a joy to behold

two year olds expect you to listen closely and be taken seriously

a big sister has a special sort of love and generosity that will stay with you always

there's nothing like Nanny's lap for cuddles when you're feeling overwhelmed

Their Daddy is precious.....they love it when he and I cuddle in the kitchen. They run to us, clinging to our legs and wanting to be included. We're all a bit like that.....wanting to be included and a part of something bigger than just ourselves.
It's Friday, link day with The Inspired Room's Beautiful Life series. I love it over there. It's lovely, but it's real.
