WEEKEND PHARMACY HAUL

L - R: Sally Hansen nail file, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 'Honey', Revlon Lip Butter in 'Red Velvet', L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eye Shadow in 'Tender Caramel', La Roche-Posay Anthelios W SPF 30 Gel, La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo, La Roche-Posay Toleriane and Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow in 'Pink Blast'.

Hullo!  Hope you're surviving the mid-work-week hump.  We're almost there! ;-)  Thought I'd cheer myself up a bit by reminiscing about last weekend.  I did a few visits to pharmacies on the weekend - namely, Priceline and National Pharmacies.  Now and then I like to pop round to Priceline just to see what's new and if there are any bargains to be had.  As for National Pharmacies, well, I don't normally go there as you have to be a paying member to get discounts and frankly, I don't need it, but I had to go there specifically because they are the only ones as far as I'm aware that stock the French brand of skin care that is La Roche-Posay in Australia (if you know where else you can get them, please share in a comment below! :-) ).

La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Duo
I've been having some issues with my skin over the last few months - namely, break-outs around the hollows of my cheeks and near my chin.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure what's causing it at this stage.  I have been trying several different skin care and foundations of late (purely because I have them and want to try them), which I'm sure doesn't help!  After doing a bit of research, I came across A Model Recommend's You Tube video where she describes a similar issue she was experiencing and thought I'd give her recommendation of La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Duo.  Fingers crossed it works for me as it did for her!  The price is not too bad, so I thought I'd give it a go.  You apply this all over the face morning and/or night and it's meant to help unclog pores and eliminate even the most severe skin break-outs.  I do like the fact that it's very easy to use and apply - pretty much like a moisturiser really.  It has a lightweight, gel texture.  I used it last night and this morning and I like how it leaves the skin feeling soft and not greasy at all.  (I must warn you though that it does sting a little when it gets on any broken skin!)  Apparently it's an excellent make-up base as well, so I like the sound of that. :)

La Roche-Posay Toleriane - Softening Foaming Gel
(Normal to combination intolerant skin)
This is a rather interesting texture, because when it first comes out of the tube, it's definitely like a gel.   However, when you massage it onto your face, it doesn't foam up at all - even with a little water - so the name is a bit misleading.  It's a little thick and smells a little medicinal, but one that isn't off-putting for me personally (as I know some can be!).  In the brief period I've used, so far, I like it.  Will see how this works on my skin after I've used it regularly for some time in conjunction with the Effaclar Duo.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios W SPF 30 GEL
It's now a scorching hot summer (even though it's just started!) in Australia - we recently had a 41 degree celcius day in my city!!!  So, can't buy enough sun screen and especially one that has a gel formula and is therefore, lighter in texture.  This one doesn't have any noticeable scent (it says it's non-perfumed so this is great if you're scent sensitive), not even the scent that's typical of SPF products, so I really like that, too. :)

Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow in 'Pink Blast'
I bought this before, but it tragically fell out of my pocket from the fourth floor of my office building. :-(  It can still be seen down at the bottom of the stairwell as this bright pink speck - out of reach (not that I could recover it for use anyway, as the whole lip balm has completely come out of the tube and stuck to the stairwell wall!  Eew, may it rest in peace).  I loved using it so much before our love affair ended tragically that of course, I had to repurchase.  There's something about it that makes me want to keep applying it.  It smells yummy (sweet and fruity - not sickly sweet at all) and I love the way it makes my lips feel - soft and supple.  The original Baby Lips are colourless, but this one just enhances my otherwise blue-based, unevenly pigmented lips to a healthy, very natural looking, fresh pink - it's like the most subtle pink tint/glow.  One of the best few dollars I've ever spent. ;-)

Priceline was having a 2 for 1 sale for Revlon lip and nail products (something like that), so I took it as an opportunity to try a couple of nice goodies...

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 'Honey' (001)
A rosy, pink nude.  I love this.  It's rare for me to find a nice, pinkish nude that suits my slightly greenish skin undertone (medium, olive, NC30-35).  This one's just right.  A great find indeed. :)
Revlon Lip Butter in 'Red Velvet'
Heard good reviews on this one and loved the look of it when swatched.  It's extremely pigmented! Can't wait to try this on my lips.  It's a really, deep, rich, autumnal, burgundy red.  Also, quite festive for the coming holiday season.
Atop the lipstick case is a clear window so you can easily identify the shade.
L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eye Shadow in 'Tender Caramel'
Bit annoyed with myself for having fallen instantly in love with this after swatching at the store and it wasn't at a discounted price or part of a special deal.  It's a gorgeous colour - I would describe it as a light to medium caramel taupe with a shimmer finish.  I've been enjoying using this just over the eye lids on its own for a little colour and shine - lovely for a quick day time look.

Some Swatches!
Take 2

Hope this was somewhat interesting. /:-\ :-)

Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo
